Need Advice

Right now it is 4:06 AM and I am blogging. If you know me well enough you will know that I never usually see any time between 1 am and 8 am unless something is wrong. Just now I woke up extremely sick. I thought I understood what hard burn was, until now. This was off the charts. I started throwing up (sorry to be so graphic) and it feels like I have something sharp piercing my throat. A woman in our Child Birth Preparation class said she eats ice cream and it goes way. So, I just took two tums and am eating ice cream.

I am not a heartburn person and I don't know how to remedy it! Everything online is medication suggestions, which I can't take. Does anyone else have any suggestions?I will try anything next time this happens.

Halloween 2008

This year Brian came up with a really good (and inexpensive) costume idea for us. A team from the BIGGEST LOSER! I really like that show. Last season Brian kind of got into it because of the yellow team. The guy on the team was pretty extreme. We taped a big pillow to his stomach to create a big belly. As for me, no stuffing was required.
This photo was taken at our wards Trunk 'R' Treat. Knowing Brian his eyes weren't open for the picture, but I am SO glad he dressed up with me. I was really surprised that he even did it. I will say we did sit in the car for at least 15 minutes trying to get him to go inside the church building. His biggest fear was that no one else would be dressed up!
I made those Frankenstein treats again, but thankfully I did not burn up my microwave
this year! Thanks for helping Rebekka!

And... Just for historical purposes... here is a photo from Brian and my first Halloween together. It was in Seattle, and I think the year was 2004. Yes... Brian is wearing black stretch pants... borrowed from his 5'2'' sister.

The Halloween Costume

Brian pulled out the Halloween decoration and costume boxes. It's always fun to look through holiday decorations and remember what I bought last year in the 'after' Halloween sale. I found a pumpkin costume for Lily. Lily usually doesn't mind dog clothes, but tonight she wasn't going for it. After I put it on she immediately walked to the bedroom and started pouting. When Brian and I followed her this is what we found:

We Miss Lily

With the crazy schedule Brian and I have had lately with mid-terms (9 between the two of us) my mom generously offered to babysit Lily for a long time. She loves Grandma and Grandpa's house because she is spoiled! (Yes- Lily knows them as Grandma and Grandpa- no grand kids yet). She gets tons of treats, toys, a backyard, a pool that she jumps in all the time, very long walks, and being able to sleep in bed with them! It probably would be the perfect situation for her if chance wasn't there. It has been 1 and 1/2 weeks and I can't wait until she comes back home! I thought I would post some of my favorite pictures of her. Lily has gotten considerably larger throughout the the photos... she just has a lot of skin.
Mom- Thank you for helping us with watching her. It really did help... a lot!

Her first day at the condo after we picked her up at the Airport. She is from Oklahoma.

Matching Shirts!

She was going to wear this at our wedding, but she quickly grew out of it!
After her bath.

Everytime she gets a new toy she rips the guts out of it. Then it gets stuck in her teeth!

October 20th- Last chance to register for California Residences

It's funny because I was looking for the California registration link to put on my blog to share with others, but I was shocked to see that I NEED to register. I was reading the guidelines (I pasted below), and I realized that I recently changed my driver's license to Kelly Rogers from Kelly Daut. (I know, I know... we have been married for more than 2 years... I feel really bad that it took so long). Well, the point of the story is that when I was reading the guidelines for registering if you changed you name on your driver's license you need to re-register. I didn't even think of it!

So... Here is the link to Register to vote. Remember you must register by October 20th! By the way... does anyone know how to change my name on my social security card? Do I need to do that?

http://www.sos.ca.gov/elections/elections_vr.htm

You may register to vote in California if:
-You are a United States citizen
-You are a resident of California
-You are at least 18 years of age (or will be by the date of the next election)
-You are not in prison or on parole for a felony conviction
-You have not been judged by a court to be mentally incompetent

You will need to re-register to vote when:
-You move to a new permanent residence

-You change your political party choice

In-&-Out Urban Legend

Sorry everyone... my cousin just found out that the whole In-&-Out thing was just an Urban Legend. I usually am really good about shifting through all of the forwards I get, but maybe, deep down, I really wanted this forward to be true! I received it from multiple people. Too bad...

Mid-Terms

I have five mid-terms within the next three weeks. Right now I am supposed to be completing a take home mid-term for my Future of Real Estate class. I was getting tired of writing so I checked out everyone's blogs. Thanks for the distraction.

One of the 5 questions on my take home mid-term is: Religion has played a major role in the development of cities. Please demonstrate this with examples from the period from Mesopotamia to the Renaissance and assess whether that role is still relevant today.

I have to write 1200 words for each question, so you can see why I am having trouble concentrating.

It would be interesting to get your opinion. Basically, religion played a huge role in developing cities in the past. The town would start with just a religious building, then markets would develop in a circular pattern around the religious building, then common dwelling were built around the market. Typically a wall was build for security purposes (more usual in Islamic countries... motes were created during the Renaissance period). So, my question is...

Do you think that our modern cities are still built around our religions?
