1 am thoughts
Tonight, I couldn't sleep. It's not as if I have a lot on my mind, but I'm just wide awake. As I have gotten a little older this problems grows more intense. I will fall asleep at 8 or 9 and then walk up at 12 or 1. It's very annoying.
Tonight, instead of just laying in bed, I got up and walked the dog. Then I got on the computer and looked through pictures while listening to music. After that was over, and still very awake, I looked through all my old blog posts. It's interesting that there is a clear line of when I stopped writing really personal things on my blog and turned it into a photo blog. I think that's when I started writing in a personal journal.
My journey going back in time through my blog was very strange. It's so weird how time goes by so quickly. My first post was about getting accepted into Chapman for my MBA. Now, I teach there. Most of the early years of the blog was all about Lily- now, we can't stop trying to give her away. I remember some of the posts, like the pregnant belly updates, but others I completely forgot about. I am so glad that I have this blog- if anything, historical purposes.
My birthday is right around the corner and I am turning 27. I will officially be in my late 20's. This is supposed to be a big year for me- completion of my Ph.D., maybe another baby, move to a real house. I also can't believe I have a 3 year old. This past year was a major transition year for our family. I was really good at my job but making a big jump in career paths was inevitable. It was a financial step back and a starting over point in seniority but it was so necessary for so many reasons. Brian finished school and started his career. It's so strange to see him out of school and back pack free. I think that him being out of school has been a huge relief for him, but it's difficult for me. We just want to play, but I need to do school work. All my classes are over, but the hard part is going to start and I am dreading it. I have so much to do... maybe that's why I can't sleep... a looming dissertation.
Update: Still can't go to bed, but my cousin's blog is the perfect solution. I can look at it forever and check out all of her pinterest stuff. Here's the link in case you want to take a look too http://overthebigmoon.blogspot.com/.

Savannah Birthday Party

Savannah had an amazing Birthday Party at the house. It was a small party (only 9 of us) but it was perfect. Savannah already had a kids party at school so we just invited family and family-friends. The SURPRISE of the party was Uncle Aron showing up. He showed up at 4 when the party started. It was an amazing present to Savannah- she loves Uncle Aron so much. He even wore pink (as the invitation indicated), however, he was one of the only ones. Others, including myself, had different shades (including salmon or peach).

Pinkalicious School Birthday Party
We had a pinkalicious birthday party at Savannah's school. They read the book Pinkalicious and then had a pizza party. All the kids wore crowns and had wands just like the book.
Her teacher's name is Miss Amber. The assistant teachers are Miss Korh and Miss Suzy.
I made the cupcakes to look like the ones that were made in the book. I just added the cupcake tops, but the sticks were too long.

Golf
We have been trying to do a game with Savannah every night after dinner. Today I made this golf hole and Savannah was dying to try it. I told her that we would play after Daddy came home. As soon as Brian walked in she said, "Daddy lets play golf course now!" I reminded her that we needed to eat our dinner first. She gobbled it done (which is not like her) and then shouted "All DONE!". She was so excited to play. We took turns hitting the ball into the hole. It was a lot of fun.

Savannah kept giving us a thumbs up before she would hit the ball. It was so darn cute. I have never seen her do that before.

Christmas Cards
This was our 2011 Christmas Card. It scanned a little funny with the green background, but it was my favorite card we have ever sent. Kaylee (my niece) was able to catch our typo- The The Rogers Family.I love sending and receiving Christmas Cards. This year we received the most of any Christmas. It filled up my little card holder to the point that I was just taping them together. Mitt Romney even sent me a card :)

SO SLEEPY!
The morning that Brian drove home from Seattle Savannah woke up at 3 am and never went back to bed! By 11 am she was so tired that she fell asleep in the middle of Grandma and Grandpa's living room while eating fishy crackers. There were at least 12 people in the house walking around and talking, but she was so tired that none of it woke her up. I moved her into the bedroom to sleep- she really needed it.

Bow Holder Craft
I made this bow holder for all of Savannah's hair bows. She has so many of them and I was just storing them in a bin which made it hard to see what she had. I got the biggest board I could find but her bows alread took up the entire thing. I got the idea from my Sister-in-Law, Melissa, who had made one for her daughter. It turned out super cute and very useful.
