6 Weeks Old- Update

Although a baby's eyes can change up to one-year old the pediatrician said that by four-months there is a 98% chance they will stay that way. Right now they are blue and the blue around the pupil is starting to lighten up. I would love them for them to stay blue! I thought she was growing blond hair, but then when I woke up this morning it was all brown.

She is starting to smile when I kiss her cheeks and sing songs to her. Peter sang to her over the phone and she started to smile too. She is also starting to play around with her noises.

I finally got the courage to weigh myself and not so great. At her two week appointment I weighed myself and lost 28 pounds. Since then I have only lost 1 pound!! Thanks to the biggest loser and my friend Jen I am inspired to start a diet. I haven't been on a diet in 4 years. This will be interesting. I have 10 pounds to get to my pre- baby weight, but they doctor said that even before the baby I was 15 pounds overweight!

This week Brian turned in his applications for his Communicative Disorders Masters and I just turned in my application to the Ph.D. in Curricular and Cultural Studies at Chapman University. Brian is applying to school that typically have up to 1,000 applications and they only take 30-50 people! Even with amazing GRE scores and 3.5 GPAs people get rejected.

Savannah's Sleeping Habits

Savannah has a very weird routine when it comes to sleep. I am trying to put her on schedule but it hasn't been too successful. Some days she chooses to be wide-eyed at from 9 pm to 4 am or she sleeps like a rock. When ever I know she is truly in a dead sleep is when her hand are up by her head. In her ultrasound pictures she was always in this pose too.

This was her attempt to get comfy while sitting up. She held her hands like this for a least an hour. Even when I tried to move them for her they stuck right back out in front of her.

Her favorite place to sleep is on us. I think she really prefers being on her stomach.

Old Photos!

For my birthday I got a bunch of new computer equipment. My parents got me a brand new printer/scanner/copier/fax and a external hard drive. Brian gave me the Roxio Creator Ultimate which is a great movie making and editing software. My big project right now is scanning all of our family photos. There are over 30 years worth! I am then going to make movies of all of them. Here are some fun ones so far!

Meeting the Grandparents!

This weekend Brian's parents came to meet Savannah. We went to Palm Springs for the weekend and all just sat around, played with the baby and ate a ton of food. The trip was way too short, so hopefully we will be able to fly up to Seattle during spring break.

24 Years Old Today

Today is my 24th birthday. It is so strange that once you have a baby your birthday immediately seem less significant... or maybe it is because I am just 24. It's kind of a boring birthday, but definitely better than 23. I have a thing about odd numbers- it just doesn't sound as nice as a even number. It's funny because we were trying to have Savannah on a even birthday. We actually thought she would come late. I really wanted February 2nd or 4th. She came much earlier on 1-13-2009. Go figure.

Well, last night (while up with Savannah around 3 am) I was thinking about what I have done in these 24 years. I started to break it down (I fell asleep by the time I got to 11 years old):

I added pictures and was shocked about how much I changed!

23- Finished my Masters, sealed in the Church with Brian, Had a baby girl, didn't kill my husband for having a handle bar mustache, and said goodbye to my gallbladder.

22- Graduated from CSULB, Was accepted into the Masters Program at Chapman, and said goodbye to my VW beetle.

21- Got Married, Promoted to Director of Education at work (That was a miracle!), and got Lily for my birthday
20- Started working at CCCS-OC as the Youth Education Specialist, Quit Nordstrom (Thank Goodness!)
19- Bought a Condo, Found out that I had endrometriosis, Had endometriosis surgery, got engaged to Brian, lost a bunch of weight

18- Graduated from High School, Gave the commencement Speech as Graduation, Baptised, Appointed as a Grand Officer for Rainbow (youth Group), traveled to Australia, Hawaii and Washington for Rainbow, started dating Brian, and thought I could be an actress.

17- Was the editor of the school newspaper, Won an award for Mock Trial, and Nominated Homecoming Queen (didn't win).

16- Got my driver's license on my birthday, got a VW beetle, and was on the swim team.

15- Team Captain of the Tennis Team for El Dorado, was on the swim team, and Worthy Advisor for Rainbow (youth group club).

14- Was on the swim team, tennis team, and in track, Went to Tahiti.

13-Traveled Europe with my family.

12- Finally found a diet that worked and lost 40 pounds (thanks Lindora!), Got my first Boyfriend (thanks Lindora!).
I fell asleep after 12 years, and it's boring anyways.

Savannah Update

Savannah went to her two week doctors visit and gained an entire pound and grew a whole inch! She is now 8 pounds and 3 ounces and is 21 inches long (at her first doctor's appointment they measured her at 20 inches even though the hospital measured her at 20.5 inches- they said she could have measured shorter if her head changed shape). They told me she is in the 75th percentile for her height and in the 30th percentile for her weight compared to other baby's her age. So she is tall and skinny... must be Brian's genetics!
Her nails are growing at a rapid rate as well. I read I am only supposed to peel her nails and not cut them. At first her nails were so soft I could peel them, but now they are harder. She is starting to scratch her face so we had to put mittens on her hands... and she hates them! Today she scratched herself so bad that it actually bled. I saw a tear in her eye and I started to cry too.

Her first time wearing a bow in on her head, and it is so cute!
My parents were signing documents for the new piece of property and they were trying to get Savannah to help. My Dad was joking around saying it is Savannah's first time buying property.

She is so hot and cold about her swing. Sometimes she loves it, and sometimes she can not stand being in it. In this photo she was happy.
Most of the time she is so content. She just looks around.

She is starting to be so cuddly. I hope she stays that way. I love cuddly babies.
