A Christmas Story from Last Year... I really miss being in Seattle this year

T'was the night before Christmas, when all through the Seattle dwelling,
Not creature could be heard, not even Lexy's yelling.
The tree and decorations were hung with care,
Good thing Mel and Tanner were there.

The children were nestled all snug with melatonin’s,
and parents prayed for just a few private moments.
With Kelly in the Kitchen, and Aron in his cap,
Scooby and Cinder settled down for an evening’s nap.

When out on the lawn there arose such a clatter,
Savannah started crying- Something must be the matter.
Away to the window Russell flew like a flash,
The rest of us feared he would do something rash.

The light gleamed in through the large window so bright
Gave the lustre of two shiny headlights.
When, what to our wondering eyes should appear,
But a 2006 Toyota Avalon was there.

Several cried out, “Jane got a new car!”
With this gift Don really shot above par!
More rapid than eagles the presents they came,
And Lisa whistled, and shouted, and called them out by name!

"For Mike! and, Stephanie! now, Jayce and Riley!
Pass it to, Devlin! and, Brian! And for, Eli and Whitney!
Some presents were left behind the tree,
but who in the heck is Christine?

Tanner played on his new guitar,
and Whitey dreamed of playing her new piano like a rock star.
Aron set up the new blue ray player,
While Mel and Jane made GAK with a creamy cool whip layer.

And then, in her red tutu, Savannah played with her dolly
while Riley licked an odd looking lolly.
As Alex aimed with his new air soft gun,
Mike, with his extra sharp inflection, shouted, “The GAK is done!”

Mellissa served us all up a piece,
and Jane reminded us, “only one sausage each!”
Cinders kept eating Eli’s plate,
While after we counted, did Devlin have eight?

In her red Doris apron Kelly started to bake,
and from their naps Riley, Savannah and Jayce did awake.
Stephanie and Kaylee straightened their hair,
“It’s time to go to Grandpa Frank’s” Don declared.

We piled in the cars and headed toward their house of bricks,
And everyone their got their family fix.
Grandpa Frank and Grandpa Gladys gave gifts wrapped in envelopes with care,
Aron was even able to open his there!

We all headed home after a long Christmas Day,
but when we got in the house things seemed to be in disarray.
Although the disagreement started with a shove,
At the end of the day our family is still full of love.

We all watched a video made by Aron,
And ate cookies and cakes until the tray was baron.
And Don fell asleep and snored out his nose,
And with a sigh and a nod,Jane arose!

She sprang to her car, and using her keyless entry,
backed out passed the cluster of cars as if it was elementary.
But we heard Jane exclaim, ‘as she drove out of sight,
"Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good-night!"
